Truth The truth is but a shadow in the mind Passing silently through hour and day An essence to which man is often blind A shrouded beacon there to light the way A flower but imagined on the vine An absent bird to please our wanting ear A goblet still unsipped of vintage wine An elusive notion to be feared Man does seldom seek to pick the flower A song too uninviting to be heard And thinks the truth be well beyond his power Impossible to grasp its sacred word But in the dire hour of pain and fear The truth emerges wonderful and clear Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 02-14-2000).] |

I love the way you turned the poem around at the end....I thought it was achingly sad (but in a good way)until that last verse, which brought a smile to my lips. Excellent work. Bobbycat =^..^= ~~Blessed Be!~~ |

Elizabeth, my friend~ You rang a bell of truth here. What truths are evident in all our lives come to rest within our hearts. You continue to reign ... queen of verse. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
