A Little Thing We All Need

It is something that can only be earned,
And for it everyone will always yearn.
It can be taken back as quickly as given,
No matter how hard for it you have striven.
To have it, and to have it complete
No matter what, that is quite a feat.
You can never see it, it is invisible,
It is just there, it is just a principle.
It can be found between two friends.
Maybe there forever, maybe it's just a lend.
When you find it, you don't want to give it up,
But losing it, you can only sometimes stop.
After it's lost it is hard to regain.
You don't know if you can get it again.
Without it a friendship may not last.
How could it if doubts were always cast?
It can be blown away, much like dust.
What is this? A little thing called trust.
With much trust friendships may never swerve.
Even when life throws its biggest curve.
