I have been reading up on "contemporary" poetry...
Thought it might be fun- well... different... and maybe just a little amusing for us to all try our hands, and our thoughts at it....

I have enclosed some sites for references.... (I'm not even sure if mine qualifies... the thoughts may not be sporadic enough...)..... Opinions?

Here is my attempt:

DRIFTING WONDERS

Glass dreams
Altruistic realms

The black crow swoons
Surreptitiously swallows the moon

Whilst the chalk colored cow frantically cries
The squared earth heavily sighs

Satin slippers dance of their own fruition
The ashen stars frost and stumble on their inhibition

Stealthy bed bugs creep in applauding the show
Distracting the worms absent-mindedly forgetting to glow

The water receeds into time
My pillow twists into a pantomime

And suddenly all is lost in Ebony colored ebullience

This is an exquisite poem -
I went to the sites that you indicated
to accept your challenge, as I have no
idea what modern poetry is or means.

But, didn't see anything helpful - that
shows what modern poetry is. I did read
a few poems in there, and was glad to
come back and read yours again --)

Panthers Chrysalis,

I thought all the poetry we write today is contemporary poetry (I am being obtuse). I like your poem. I must admit that I grabbed my dictionary a couple of times [which I think is good!]. I am not sure the style is for me, at this time. I will be looking for responses to your challange to learn more about "contemporary poetry."
