*These here are my translations of two poems by A. Pushkin. I used to love you... I used to love you and my love by chance, Inside my soul has never fully vanished; No longer shall it ever make you tense; I wouldn’t want to sadden you with anguish. I loved you speechlessly and wildly, By timidity and jealousy was stressed; I loved you so sincerely and so mildly, As, God permit, may love you someone else. A wish My days still linger, slow and rough Each moment multiplies with gladness All sadness of the hapless love Disturbing all the hopes for madness I’m silent; not a word I breathe. I weep, my tears -- my consolation My soul, held captive by the grief Still finds delight in this sensation. No longer do I care if life goes by, O, hollow phantom into darkness flee; The sorrow of my love is dear to me-- If I die loving, then I pray let die! "I will not whole die, my soul in sacred lyre, will outlive my dust and will escape decay, And in the moonlit sphere, my glory will not tire As long as poets still remain" A. Pushkin |

Very good, Master! How do you have time for your class work with all these translations that you do? Denise |

Thank you Denise! Sometimes, I have to stop doing homework, to write these. You can't always learn from the textbooks. |
