Alone I sit and face the day Knowing you aren't far away Your silence screaming in my head And once again to an empty bed. What went wrong I'll never know What you feel you'll never show So we go on with this masquerade Dealing with mistakes we've made. I've learned the lesson very well And I promise not a soul to tell Inside I know I must contend With keeping you just as a friend. This is enough, I will accept I'm not afraid to feel bereft But thank you kindly for this stake And know my heart is to forsake. The memories now are locked in tight The feelings will change - with a fight I have my friend back, my fears erased The road to serenity clearly pathed. ~Julie~ |
