Sitting in Michael's Lap

0 posted 2000-04-12 08:28 AM

He knows
        that it’s not forever;
Knows,
        because I told him --

Yet, still, he loves
        to kiss me
In the morning,
        and I have to laugh:
(late for work -- again)

He asks me
        how I do it,
And when I ask, “Do what?”
        he only kisses me again,
Smiling, always smiling,
        eyes a careful green, perfect,
That watch me when he thinks
        I’m sleeping;

In his arms,
        I am only a doll:
Cradled, cherished,
        so small against the shape of him,
He wants to hold me
        fiercely, I suspect,
But he fears I might break;
        (I just might)

He thinks
        that he loves me,
One in a million,
        such good fortune
That he should have found me, here ...

He knows,
        because I told him,
But still he hopes --
        I feel it,
When he holds me,
        and all I can think of
Is that he isn’t
                you.

 Full fathom five thy father lies,
Of his bones are coral made,
Those are pearls that were his eyes;
Nothing of him that doth fade
But doth suffer a sea-change
Into something rich and strange...

--William Shakespeare, from The Tempest

this is excellent...very subtle and soft
very honest and pure.
perfection.
take care,jm

 Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders
And it makes me want to touch you there.
And the light in your eyes makes me feel
Like there's something much better out there
Something kind...
And I know someday I might be looking around
Trying to find some purpose
Well purpose it can't be that hard to find
As long as I've got the wind...
The wind and your love to carry me.

To be loved and not be able to return it - so sad. However, your work is well done.

I am one of your many fans, Kess. And this one is wonderful....there isn't any style you cannot write! Including prose..that too is perfection.

Wow!

Chris told me you were incredible, but I didn't realize he would be right!

Skyfyre, this is amazing. You've done a good job of leading up to one expectation and surprising with another!

Bravo!

Oh Jeeze,
   This is pure gold, Kess.  Enamored fate vs. cold reality.  Arghhh - nobody wins.  Powerful piece, loved it.
