Her party was a huge success she made her guests feel welcome her food was amazing but still she stood there at the edge of tears in the crowded room full of friends and family inside she cries alone Her husband’s company dinner she wore a dazzling smile he presented her on his arm and inside she cries alone The school play where her son played a pumpkin that fell over applause deafened her and inside she cries alone Two o’clock in the morning sitting at the kitchen table staring into the dark alone crying inside [This message has been edited by Poet deVine (edited 04-12-2000).] |

ouch...this gouges eyeballs... It's sad that I can truly relate to this poem, but PdV, you've (as you always do) written such a poignant poem that will undoubtedly touch many. |

So many people have this same feeling and don't know where to begin in resolving it... I surely hope this "She" found a way... |

Wow Sharon. This is another great one. I too can relate to this piece. I am very lucky now, I am never alone like I was then. I hope everyone can find the peace that I have found in friends and in love. |

Ya did it! You got one posted! This is so sad Man have I felt like that a time or two. When everything around you tells you that you should be happy, and yet you're screaming on the inside. Excellent job Sharon. |

~~~~~interesting and thought provoking~~~ clear message in the words which speaks well to the quality of the poem. A life isn't significant except for its impact on other lives. |
Great poem, Sharon, that so well conveys how we can feel lost and lonely in the midst of a busy, people-filled life. Well written! Denise |
poet D this is exceptional... very well written and expresed..I love when you write serious like this... and lord knows i relate to this piece... i feel like you were peeking in my kitchen window...next time come on in and we'll have girl talk and coffee...or a stiff drink..maybe both (smile) take care,jm Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders And it makes me want to touch you there. And the light in your eyes makes me feel Like there's something much better out there Something kind... And I know someday I might be looking around Trying to find some purpose Well purpose it can't be that hard to find As long as I've got the wind... The wind and your love to carry me. vertical horizon |
I can truly relate to this poem. It was if you knew me many years ago. Hugs to you from someone who has been there. |
Alone -- this poem is thought provoking and reminds me that there is no greater lonliness than sitting in a room of people and feeling alone. Nicely written. Teresa King |
I wish I did not know all too well how this feels. No matter how many there are around you, you are still horribly alone, detached, empty... Excellent free verse PdV |
Your poem was very emotional it touched my heart. There is nothing that compares to the void you have in your soul when you are feeling alone. |
