Why this difference? When you scold him, You go back again and express your love But when it comes to me You maintain a silence reproach Why this discrepancy? When he cries You give him a tissue and wipe the tears But when it comes to me You scorn and call me emotional Why this divergence? When he is mischievous You smile at his playfulness But when it comes to me You say I lack maturity Why this disparity? When he brings awards and laurels You congratulate him encourage him But when it comes to me You compare me with others and say my triumph is menial Don't think I will be shrouded away From being a success because you aren't with me I will live to win and prove myself One day you will have to praise me No offenses to any granmas here..if any! Ah, that is so sad. Playing favorites is never a good idea but I know that it does happen in some families. I have two wonderful grandchildren that I love with all my heart. I can't even imagaine favoring one over the other. Your poem is very well written. Denise |
