The night was dark and stormy- The inn was locked and barred. The rain on pane was beating… The wind a blowin’ hard. A knock came near the midnight… The keeper struck a light… And wondered as he grumbled- Who traveled late at night. And when the door was opened- Within the candles gleam… A Traveler, wet and weary- And road-worn could be seen. “A piece o’ silver for the night- A bite to eat an’ bed. Or even yonder corner… Just a place to rest me head. I’m leavin’ wi’ the dawnin’- I’ve many miles to go… There’ll be a fight at Bannockburn As if ye didna know. I’ll make me stan’ wi’ Robert- ‘im o’ the ‘ouse o’ Bruce… An’ ‘elp ‘im win a victory… A pox upon a truce! I’m recent from the Orient- Afore that….Moorish Spain. I studied in Cordoba… An’ plan to, once again.. Ye ken Constantinople? Ah, wha’ a bonnie place- Them Arabs in their silks an’ such Wi’ veils to ‘ide girls face. An’ coffee! Ye don’t ken it- They make it there in cakes, Yet sometimes in a liquid draught- ‘ow rarely fine it tastes. An’ books! Ye’d scarce believe it! From every land an’ clime- An Faith! What I could tell ye… If I but ‘ad the time. But here! Do take the silver… An’ when the dawn is pale… I’ve miles and leagues to cover”. Thus goes the Traveler’s tale. |

Ye not be fightin' the Moor who fought along with Barnabas? Well done, look forward to the next tale. Think I have caught most of them. |

What an interesting tale you spin! I see I need to go back and read all the "before" entries! I'll admit though, even with me being the hillbilly I am, I had a hard time reading with the "travelers" accent! ROFL...I kind of had to stumble through those parts! hehe I sounded like I was choking on something! LOL Great read sir! |

Well written gunslinger! A life isn't significant except for its impact on other lives. |
