Don't Speak To Me of Love |

Author's Note: I wrote this one after an especially bad break-up. Don't Speak to Me of Love Don't speak to me, in glowing terms, Of love, and all its charms - Of gazing at a moonlit sky, Wrapped in a lover's arms. Don't tell me how the earth stands still, When two hearts beat as one; Or how the light of souls, entwined, Outshines the morning sun. Don't fill my head with images Of shooting stars, on high, Or songbirds, singing sweetly, In a brilliant azure sky. Don't paint a picture of the world As seen through love-struck eyes. For, lovely as such views may be, They're really only lies. A foolish poet, once was I, Believing love was kind. I trusted my heart's vision, And, alas! My heart was blind. It led me down love's rosy path, Carefree and unaware; It hid, from me, the pitfalls, And the thorns that flourished, there. And, now, with bruised and battered heart, I take a silent vow: I never want to hurt, again, The way that I do, now. So, spare me talk of sweet romance, And matches formed above. At least, until my heart has healed, Don't speak to me of love. -Troy J. Hoecherl- © Troy J Hoecherl All Rights Reserved Beautiful, Thought-Provoking Poetry http://www.h-systems.net/p1.htm |

Such a beautifully rendered poetic plea. Wonderful in rhythm, rhyme and flavor... (this describes, perfectly, my own state of mind about every other day it seems...) ~ Claire |

Troy, I commiserate. We've all been there at least once. Expertly worded! It matters not how strait the gate; How charged with punishments the scroll; I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. --W.E. Henley |

sniffle, sniffle... I can totally relate. I've been there so many times. I hope all goes well for you. Remember...it's his loss not yours. |

To not speak to you of love...Well I LOVE This...and Love seems to be what you write about best! "Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove. O,no! it is an ever-fixed mark....William Shakespeare |

Yes Troy I think we have all felt these feelings when our once treasured love...our once treasured hopes and dreams have found themselves in the lovers graveyard rotting away. Remember the song This diamond ring doesn't shine for me anymore...James [This message has been edited by jmlee12345 (edited 04-11-2000).] |

WOW! Thank you all for your kind words! Claire - Yeah, I've been there more than once, myself. But, on this particular occasion, I decided to put it on paper, rather than let it fester. Expressing the emotions this way really helped me to clear away the clutter and get on with my life. Tara - Yep! Hearts can be fragile, and heartache is nothing new - but it always feels like it is when you are the one it happens to! Babeluv - thanks! Things are going MUCH better for me, now. Denise - (blushing) Why, thank you very much! Breathtaking? I don't know about that, but it certainly was heartfelt. WhiteNite - glad you enjoyed it! Jeffrey - Yep! Love can be the best or the worst thing that happens to us - sometimes both at once. Hoot - You made my day! And, FYI, I already HAVE published (follow the link in my sig) Romantic Heart - Thanks so much! And, while we're on the subject of love, I LOVE your username! James - Yes, I do remember that song. Glad you could relate! Again, thanks for all your wonderful comments! Troy Beautiful, Thought-Provoking Poetry http://www.h-systems.net/p1.htm |
