I'd call this an h2s, but it's more an h2r (head to recorder).

-poetry, she heals me-
freestyle

Poetry, she bathes me,
Washes me clean in words and wonder.
Poetry, she calms me
When my voice is angry thunder.
Poetry, she holds me
When I feel the most broken and alone.
Poetry, she loves me
Even when all I keep hitting is bone.

The meat of my words, chewed away by time,
Leaving a shining femur.
Blood vessels disconnected.
Muscle inactive.
Poetry makes it alive and run again.

Poetry, she lives
In books, on the screen, on the page, in my mind.
Poetry, she sings to me
When I'm the most blind.
Poetry, she hurts me
But only enough to help me find my way.

Poetry, please help me now.
I forget how to pray.

Thank you, Mike, for reminding us what it's all about.  And so eloquently, too...If a HUG is cliche' to you--SUFFER!

Thanks everyone. Glad you enjoyed. Yeah, sometimes you need to sit back and wonder why you're doing what your doing. In this case, it was more I just felt a mess inside, and I needed to express it before it became toxic. Thanks for reading, all.

Mike, I think you've expressed your near ~ toxic mess most eloquently, my friend. H2S or H2R, you've done it again.

Take care,

It gives life. Only a poet can understand, and in time the reader also becomes a poet. This is magnificent and I truly mean that, it's not just a platitude. I understand it, feel it,
live it, bathe in it!!
I love it!!!
thank you

I agree totally with all that has been said above, and yes sometimes poetry opens our heart doors to prayer.

Poetry is an expression of words
written in a form to send a message
from our minds to another's indirectly
abstract with meaning to understand.

I have found your poetry quite intriging
sends one's mind soaring to the brink
of imagination, yet let's in enough light
to see the trail your on and the destiny
your taking one's mind on through your words.

Thanks for sharing your talent here with us.

Wow, the number and strength of responses to this little reflection take me completely by surprise. Thank you all for reading, for enjoying and for understanding. It's funny -- it's the little things that leave the biggest impact. Thanks for reminding me of that.
