QueriesThese thoughts of you, sounding, in evening's approach dance golden in pealing bells' chime. My silence is oft' such sweet reverie, told, 'ere my musings keep no trace of time. Instead, these soft cinnamon scentings and hues have focused my eyes and my minding, and buried themselves 'neath the warmth of my skin. Fragrant mem'ries, all treasures, for finding. I am born of your words, though I've tried to resist but to sentiment cannot be hidden. I have questioned with senses alive in your eyes. Still, to taste you my lips are forbidden. And what of these musings? And what of the night? And what, pray, might dreams place before me? All queries upon which I cast, ever bright, the need for your love to restore me. ![]() |

Ah, Claire -- how shamelessly clever of you to shed a sliver of light on the shadowed recesses of my secret heart! ![]() (Translation: been there, done that!) --Kess Full fathom five thy father lies, Of his bones are coral made, Those are pearls that were his eyes; Nothing of him that doth fade But doth suffer a sea-change Into something rich and strange... --William Shakespeare, from The Tempest |

Claire, here you epitomize the reason I miss this place whenever I have to be away for a while. You are a cinnamon breath of fresh air which tenderly caresses my sould with each word I drink in. Bless you for your gift and bless you for sharing it. Chris |

Claire - I believe you have a purely magical way of writing - I have a question - do you ever write much freeverse, for you would be excellent at it (No - I am not trying to get a convert everyone!) This is an exceptional poem. ![]() |

Chris...and thank "you" for the thoughtful comment. It thrills me that you were able to find beauty in my words. Ruth...thank you! The publishers will have to keep waiting for me, I suppose, although I did get a note today from "Poetic Voices" that they want one of my pieces for the April Issue. ![]() Denise...you seem to always find time to read the poems I post here, and I thank you, sincerely for that. Glad you liked this one. Christopher...how could I not share my meager verses with the likes of fine poets such as you and everyone here? It is in the sharing of our verse that I discover so much pleasure and peace. Thank you, in earnest, for your poetic response, and for letting me know that you enjoyed this. Severn...I don't write nearly as much freeverse as rhyme, but I have posted a few here. Thank you for reading, for offering your kind response and for your generous encouragement! ~ Claire |
