MY DREAMS Auguste I call her in my dreams at night I whisper all the day I glimpse her in the twilight Strolling along the way But it is not her, this captured gaze She faltered along the rungs of life Just floating gulls on an evening breeze It is not her, my wife In days now lost she clung to me Until that day drew near A breath of love we whispered free I whisper still my dear I long to have her back again To mix our tears and hearts as one And hold her through the dark, still night Until the day is born So full of joy, so full of youth She left in the twinkling of a star Behind she left but truth And a life not traveled far The house is as it was that day With everything in place As if she left but for a moment And again I'll see her face But deep within I know she's gone To never touch our home again To never hum the melodies As so used to I had been As the sky becomes dusty lace And azure melts to smokey gray Starlight paints the scenery As shadows show the way She is not here this dark, quiet night Fate took revenge and changed the scene She has lost herself in light And I have lost myself in dreams |

This is beautiful, but tragic. I know a lot about living in dreams... Good job "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

So sad, so beautiful, and so well expressed, my friend. Your poetry is a poignant language all in its own. ~ Claire [This message has been edited by Meadowmuse (edited 04-10-2000).] |

No wife as of yet.. but I love it anyway. =) "The storm rises up when the shadows descend every beat of my heart every day without end I will stand like a rock I will bend till I break till theres no more to give if thats what it takes I will risk everything I will fight I will bleed I will lay down my life if thats what you need every second I live thats the promise I make" I have no idea who wrote this... tell me if you know. =) |
