My love, I miss him so.
Each pulse of my heart echoes in his.
Beat for beat, we pound together.
A breath, indrawn by me
is moments later exhaled by him.
Our bodies exist in a rhythm
Separated by miles, but hearts together.

So why is it I miss him so?
All I need do is rest my hand on heart,
to feel his pulse quicken, his body react.
Jumbled thoughts enter my head,
certainly begun by him, to be completed by me
because we have a lifeline, connected.
Separated by miles, but hearts together.

And why is it I miss him so?
After all, it has only been
one day, nine hours, eight minutes and two seconds
since we last kissed goodbye.
An ending to our physical proximity
but our mental bond, stretching for light years.
Separated by miles, but hearts together.

Oh, why is it I miss him so?
He will return, I know
(breathe, dear, don't forget to breathe)
Surely as the rain falls and the train whistle blows
A glorious reunion of minds, bodies and souls.
Until then, I will listen to our hearts beat,
Separated by miles, but hearts together.

wow, very nice...intense longing in this
I can feel you missing him.very well written poem.
take care, jm

The stars shine so bright, now's the time
I close my eyes - soft wind touch my face,
Cool sand upon the place where I once kissed you
And held you close.
Now I will reach for the stars...
Because Oh my love, that's where you are...
Though the storms of black night rage on
I still see your face
I still feel your lips on mine
And though my heart feels all alone without you
I still hear you sing to me
I still hear your voice on the sea...

Joanna~
Such longing and loving ...
shared within the heart
separated by distance only.

Loved the beginning..."My love, I miss him so."   Loved the lines..."Surely as the rain falls and the train whistle blows..a glorious reunion of minds, bodies, and souls."  James

Joannak,

so near, yet so far
strolling down a barren shore
misty loon replied
sang a song of loneliness
and echo'ed my desires

I, too, get a great sense of longing.  I hope this person knows how much you care. A well written piece!

Joannak,
Excellent writing....I fell the longing and aching to be with him again.  Hope you shared this one, it is a gem.  Best wishes to you both.  Someday, maybe you'll be in the same place...

Thanks JM, mariee, Marge, James, INclan and Lone Wolf for reading.

I miss this person desperately when he's not around, and yes, I consider him a kindred soul.  He is a very special man.

Thanks to all for your kind comments,

Joanna
