My Father's Debt As I held my sobbing firstborn son broken of heart and spirit, comforting him with my own tears I realized that the debt handed to me decades ago had been paid. The account balance with accrued interest was now cleared releasing the first lienholder on the title of Fatherhood. Robert if you can dream; you can fly...if you are flying; you are dreaming. |

Robert, this is a touching piece, so beautifully expressing what it is to take up the legacy of fatherhood. I enjoy, so much, your writing. ~ Claire |

this is excellent...very deep and thought provoking...both poems here are written from "way deep"...as are all of yours...your poetic tradmark I'd say. great job on both of these tonight. take care, jm The stars shine so bright, now's the time I close my eyes - soft wind touch my face, Cool sand upon the place where I once kissed you And held you close. Now I will reach for the stars... Because Oh my love, that's where you are... Though the storms of black night rage on I still see your face I still feel your lips on mine And though my heart feels all alone without you I still hear you sing to me I still hear your voice on the sea... vertical horizon |
