My Mirror’s Reflection

I am not beautiful in my eyes
but I turn some heads my way;
I am not all that very wise,
but my feet are not of clay;

I have little to give, but I give my all,
and only with my smile.

My eyes are hazel green
my hair a graying dark blonde;
I try to keep my insight keen,
and for everyone stay strong;

I have little to give, but I give my all,
and only with my smile.

I have a laugh that is too loud
you hear it above din of crowd,
and my hands talk, my arms wave
and my heart holds scraps of love saved;

I have little to give, but I give my all
and only with my smile.

I will never be known for my works
but from life have never shirked;
Mother Teresa I will never be,
but my friends know the love they see;

I have little to give, but I give my all
and only with my smile.

So in the morning, in my mirror
I see myself say a prayer,
“God, let me live to give, forgive and live,
and remain for me my savior.”

I have little to give, but I give my all
and only with my smile.

I don't even have to see you and I know you are beautiful!! This is a beautiful expression of your soul, Sunshine!! I also believe that their is nothing wrong with the sound of loud laughter!! I think it is one of the best sounds in the world!!

Denise, you are too kind - you should see some people turn their heads when I laugh - at least I don't sound like Phyllis Diller!  I have a strong, sometimes husky voice, and try to put it to good use - but my laughs get carried away!  Glad you liked this!

sunshine,
this is SO GREAT!!!!
this was such a pleasure to read...
honest reflection...with humility and a dose of self respect.
very good work!!
I smiled while reading this...in many ways you describe me...I am trying to learn to appreciate my reflection more...
thanks for the sweet read
take care,jm

 The stars shine so bright, now's the time
I close my eyes - soft wind touch my face,
Cool sand upon the place where I once kissed you
And held you close.
Now I will reach for the stars...
Because Oh my love, that's where you are...
Though the storms of black night rage on
I still see your face
I still feel your lips on mine
And though my heart feels all alone without you
I still hear you sing to me
I still hear your voice on the sea...

Janet Marie - your mirror's reflection is only part of it you know...and from what I've seen of you in your words, the rest of you is as beautiful as your reflection.  God Bless, Sunshine

Darling,
You are my sunshine, Your spirit shines in every answer that you write. Love yourself a little more and the mirror will show your true beauty. *L* Sy

Sy, at ripe age of forty-eight
still my precious dreams are great;
although I will remain content
in knowing that good days are spent.

Thanks for reading!

Marge, it is always interesting to see what little bits people pick out of poems as a point of interest...thanks!

If you have little to give, but give your all, this is the greatest testament to the reflection in the mirror. The spirit that you see is surely different from the one seen through the eyes of the rest of the world. If you saw what I see, your heart would quiver at the beauty

Sunshine, by giving your all, you and your Savior have a very important thing in common. I have always felt blessed knowing you. Please continue to stay the way you are

Elizabeth, Balladeer - putting Sunshine into teary-eyed mode is not the way to start a Monday.  Thank you ever so much for your kind, sweet words.

I somehow missed this the first time through, Sunshine.  Apologies.  This was an exquisite poem.  There's nothing more anyone could ask for than for you to be yourself and with a smile.      Now then, my mirror - it's to the point it throws things at me, I'm not liking it much these days... LOL

Michael, I would suggest you throw things back, but then again, it might be a favorite mirror.  We all have "those" days - and I know you will conquer them with Sunshine looking in!
