Who am I I thought that things weren’t as they seem Some aren’t entitled to a dream I said that change wouldn’t be extreme But who am I to go against the currant of the stream I taught my children how to know The values that we cherish so So they would in God’s footsteps grow But who am I to try to fight the mighty undertow There’s so much worthless trash to see Degrading of humanity I finally turned off my TV But who am I to go against the rhythm of the sea I celebrate each child’s birth And every man’s intrinsic worth And cry out at the massive dearth But who am I to try to stop rotation of the earth I feel a burning love within For young ones who are lured to sin It is a fight we all could win But who am I to try to change direction of the wind Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 04-07-2000).] |

You are a very loving and special person, Elizabeth and it is people like you, because you do love and care so much, who can make a great big difference in this world. As you know, it starts in the home, one heart to one heart. This is a very special glimpse into your soul, Elizabeth. Thanks for sharing it! Denise |

Wonderful poem! You must, go against the current of the stream fight the mighty undertow go against the rhythm of the sea stop rotation of the earth change direction of the wind, and more if necessary to make the world a better place. And we will be there fighting the fight with you because it is necessary to do. A single person can make a difference, all of us can make a future. dh |

Liz, this is a great poem, but I believe that one person CAN change the world for the better, and it's easier than some may think. You have changed my life for the better, that's for sure! I think that if everyone took the time to do something nice for someone else every day, the world would be a much better place. (That might be corny, but it's true!) Liz, we each have to do the little bit that we are empowered to do. It's when each one thinks that their small part cannot change anything....that's when we've got problems. Good poem. |

Gosh, your responses are all so loving, you're making me cry. You're doing it all wrong. The reader is supposed to cry at the poem. Now lets get that right! (As I grab a tissue) Thank you all so very much Love Liz |
