He is Just a Man

I met him quite by accident
Without a whisper of intent
And yet his presence heaven sent
But he is just a man

He wrote me verses full of love
With words inspired from above
And laced with songs of turtle dove
This ordinary man

He wrote of love’s intriguing bliss
Of warmth and care and happiness
Then sealed each sonnet with a kiss
He’s just a common man

He mesmerized me from the start
He made pursuit of love an art
Then took possession of my heart
This warm and pleasant man

He took me to his ivory tower
Bathed me in a moondust shower
Held me captive in his power
This tender loving man

He's just a man of humble dreams
Not one of mad or wild extremes
A simple soul, and yet he seems
A quite alluring man

I love a man with modest fore
But fire brewing in the core
Who overflows at passions pour
A fervid savage man

I love him so, as best I can
But he is just a man

Liz, this is perfection. I love this poem...its so sweet in its sentiment and its sort of quiet, "understated" devotion...if that makes any sense(smile)
so very well expressed, as always.
I had to smile when I read the part where he writes you a poem and mesmerizes you...Im a sucker for a poem everytime too
take care, jm

Elizabeth,
He is one lucky man and this is one hell of a poem. A poem for all time and all seasons.
Exquisite, a real epopee. Love Sy

'Liz, he is "just an uncommon" man...and I am so very glad you have found him to be yours.

what you have done with this, you have taken a feeling and translated it into words. that's about as much as you can ask of a poem.

like Hemingway said: "all you have to do is write one honest word." well, you've just written a bunch of honest words.

Liz, this is beautiful! You are lucky to be in the presence of this "ordinary angel".

Mike, Thank you, a very kind compliment

Lost dreamer, Just a poem, but thank you for your comment

Janet Marie, You're right, poetry can be mesmerising, when it is written for you. You can't imagine how many times I've given poetry as a gift. It's so inexpensive and everyone is thrilled. Thanks for you kind remarks

Hoot, Absolutely nothing

Sy, Well, he's one hell of a man!

sunshine, Thanks, dear for commenting. Yes, I would say uncommon

Denise, there's that word. I betcha I'm going to see it in every other comment now. It's one of those "Sy words". Thanks, dear

Martie, I got a feeling you liked this one
You're sweet

Elliot, Honesty is the best policy. A poem doesn't have to be true to be honest. Thank you very much

Nate, Oh Nathan, love is nothing new. Been around a long time. It's refreshing if you have time for it! Thanks.

Amy, Thanks, dear. Your comments are touching

just..., Thanks for your response. Much appreciated

Lovebug, Hey, I really liked your last post.
Thank you for reading all my poems. It means a lot to me

Liz
