I Thought........ |

I thought I wanted love, but I was wrong. The price I found too high, the cost too dear. I found it brought me sorrow, not a song- And melancholy strains, alone, I hear. I thought that one could love me, as I am… Alas, I found that feat too hard to do. And now at last my heart’s door I will slam.. And to all such foolish notions, bid adieu. I guess perhaps my Traveler was a fool- With all his dreams of finding Holy Grails. Perhaps it’s best he learn from life’s harsh school, The lesson, that “the dreamer always fails”. Perhaps I too should put my quill away… Return to daily grind, and dull routine… Take off my dreamer’s cloak, and let it lay- And live as if my visions were not seen. NEVER give up your dreamer's cloak. It is a precious gift. Do not ignore your vision. It could be the very thing that changes the world. Dip your quill in daily life with fervor...As a poet, always keep it poised and ready for action. |

This is haunting in its sadness... but such a great poem!!! Don't ever put your quill away... we'd all lose. *S* |

One always has to have dreams. Never give up on those! The easiest thing we can do is give up, that takes no effort. What does take effort is too keep trying and moving forward, even in the face of despair. You were blessed with being able to put thought down and paper and share with others...don't give that up. |

I don't think you should ever put your quill away! Banish that thought! Excellent poem, Gunslinger! Denise |

And if you were to do so, such a loss it would be to all within these halls... but mostly to yourself. I hope this piece was mostly an exercise... although there is always a kernel of truth in what we write. Yours are some of the best within Passions. |

Put the quill away and Lando and I will have to make a quick trip down to Texas along with Tyrell and Cap Roundtree and have a confab with you... |
