Such Small Thunder

Such small thunder to my ear
these wings of flight
and I with nose against glass
looking  looking
onto the patchwork earth.

The mountains do not wear snow caps
they are terrain for giant footsteps
each print so obvious from here
and splayed against sloping shoulders of snow.

This gratitude seems so small against
the sun that is provocative in hue
the color of passions lips
full and sultry in invitation,
watch me glide this sun
into the slivering sea.

The lake is the color
of desperate eyes
slipping from sparkle,
a sort of slushy moss
and so quiet
like paint poured and waiting
pooling and silent.

The sky has turned
and the ground glistens with stars
I can see the big dipper below,
a playing field perhaps
for the gods.

My heart turns into this ending
and the sky seems so familiar
it fills me like a love song
so recent and remembered
its closed eyed revere
raking my reality.
Glorious sun scraped vision
taking me away from heart

to heart of home.

Exquisitely done my friend...
"like paint poured and waiting
pooling and silent"
You have such a wonderous way with the English language, creating expressions and pictures of the mind.

Remarkable, Martie.  I especially loved:
"The lake is the color
of desperate eyes
slipping from sparkle,
a sort of slushy moss
and so quiet
like paint poured and waiting
pooling and silent."

You evoke such imagery and intense emotion with your writing.  Excellent work.

I always look for your poems when I have a chance.  This poem like all your poems has such refreshing, wonderful, original imagery. I will take your lines with  me on my next flight.

Visions, incredible, but the feelings are so real I felt them myself, or perhaps it's mental telepathy enhanced by your poetry. Either way, I was there with you

Friends, some people dread airplanes...not me...as long as I have a window seat.  Thank you so much for enjoying this trip with me.

There is no other view in the world like that from the window of a plane. I dread flying and only do so when absolutely necessary but that view is one that I will never forget! Beautiful poem, Martie!

a  year ago -  even then - you were writing poetry - with such sensationally beautiful images - I find myself short of breath - I'm frustrated trying to find words to reply adequate to your poems
