We start as strangers
you and me
with all the misconceptions
of who the other is
we walk the line
just within reach
of what lies on the inside
we play the song and dance
of being friends
all the while looking
for the deeper meaning
past all the personas
that keep everyone else
at a comfortable distance
we hold the attraction
to keep us together
we continue to dream the dreams
to move us forward
we shelter the fears
that hold us still
we are strangers
you and me
still searching, always searching
to the inner core
of who we are.
