Welcome to our home, our new adopted son, We will make you a part of our life. Provide you with things your other family could not, While you are with us you will be free from strife. By the way, we've something to tell you, We've saved you some time. We've already planned your life out for you Because letting you do it would be such a crime. A nip here, a tuck there, We really can make this life fit. It will all work out perfectly We will make you from a little kit. Don't date that person. You are forbidden to see them. You see this is your life you're living And they have not room to fit in. You're free to choose your own path, Or shall we say, "Only as long as we approve." Because, you see, if we do not, dear son, Then we will make life a living hell for you. Off to college you go, dear John, For this is how it is meant to be We have laid out this future for you, We really don't care what you think. Go to work and go to school, Work at the job we want you to. Only because we love you, dear John, We wouldn't want to lose our grip on you. Don't speak a word, dear son, You've already been spoken for. You're friends have even been picked, You need not choose anymore. [This message has been edited by Creperum (edited 04-04-2000).] |

When I started I thought...oh a touching poem about adoption...then I stopped dead in my tracks...this is very powerful and makes me wonder in saddness how many times children have been adopted or naturally born with a pre-planned future..turning children into what the parents want them to be...Your poem made me stop and think...very well written!! Hold me for yesterday Kiss me for tomorrow But love me for today. |

I was raised with a very controlling dad and believe me it sucks and it puts you way behind in your relationships and the ability to make your own decisions. I can sympathize with this young man. I would have titled this poem The Two in Control. James |

Well, well, well, Creperum.....looks like another well developed and magnificent piece brought forth from your emotions and talents. I really, really like this one (As you know). Don't be so modest. Take credit where it's deserved. You have a natural talent and I (as well I'm sure as the others who read this and your other poetry)am amazed at how you're able to express yourself and allow your true feelings to flow outright on the paper. Keep up the writing, PLEASE....I'd hate to see such talent go to waste. Luv u bunches! *SorrowsMystress* [This message has been edited by SorrowsMystress (edited 04-05-2000).] |

This was an interesting read. Speaks to the ways in which some would control the lives of their children and smother expression creativity. Very good writing. |

Excellent satire! I liked this...how true it is that sometimes parents (even birth parents) will try to manipulate a child's life..that's how hate procreates.... nice to read you! |

Wonderful reading. It is sad how parents can be like this. I am even more grateful for the parnets I have. daniel |

Very nice poem "The storm rises up when the shadows descend every beat of my heart every day without end I will stand like a rock I will bend till I break till theres no more to give if thats what it takes I will risk everything I will fight I will bleed I will lay down my life if thats what you need every second I live thats the promise I make" I have no idea who wrote this... tell me if you know. =) |
