~ Walking Into the Wind ~ Splitting the sea with ravenous speed the roar of the waves crashing by - To the very top deck, we scrambled that night in hope's of pretending to fly... We zipped up our coats & held on for dear life as our Captain made up for lost time - With near hurricane winds, our voices unheard, the rush that I felt was divine! My hair whipped my face - I barely could stand I was laughing so hard - I had tears... With both of us staggering, stumbling ahead I realized I'd done this for years. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * My whole life a whirlwind - strong & intense I trudge on, though not standing tall - My chin on my chest, my eyes closed real tight, praying to God I don't fall... Dark waters below me, laugh as I falter no balance, my feet seem so lost - Determined, I press on to reach life's white railing, and I will soon, no matter the cost. At times in my life, those winds are too strong and I have to sit down for awhile - If I didn't, I fear that I'd be blown away, so I wait, holding on with a smile. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Yes, to the very top deck, we scrambled that night, in hope's of pretending to fly - Finally we reached the front of the boat and stared out to the wind-smitten sky... Our hands clutching tight round the railing secure we finally stood tall as we "flew" - - We laughed at the ocean & bright stars above having accomplished what we'd set out to do. No matter the strength of the wind in your face, lean into it - - soon you'll stand tall - - And may laughter always ring out from your lips, even when you stagger & fall.... ~ poetFemmeFatale ~ |

nicely done, yep... everyone once in a while you have to go to the top deck and feel the spray in your face, kinda makes life worth living, even if you fall occasionally, just hope you land on your feet rather than your...er... well.. where I have landed a few times... enjoyed. |

"I'M THE KING OF THE WORLD!!!!!" LOL Reminds me of that part of "Titanic" where Jack runs out onto the bow of the ship and screams that. . . Good to see you as always pFF. . . -------------------------------------------------------- That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl |

hey poet femme... so nice to see you sailed back thru... this is very very good.....so full of your strong emotions...and imagery of the sea. very well written and expressed. the ending is perfection. "My whole life a whirlwind - strong & intense I trudge on, though not standing tall - My chin on my chest, my eyes closed real tight, praying to God I don't fall... --------------- powerful emotions girl!! take care,jm ...when you walked into the room, I saw their faces, you made it feel like time was standing still...and I felt fascination... then you turned and smiled in my direction... and my heart...gave me away. glass tiger |

pFF, you have a rare talent of making readers feel the experience expressed in your writing. You take us there, where life happens, and bring us back, better than we were before, thus, the last four lines. Incredible talent that you posses. Gen this was great. I love how you've described this. It's good if you can get through those storms and major winds with a smile still on your face. |

Femme, As much as this sounds scary to me being on a boat in a near hurricane, you made it sound delightful, like a challenge you met with strength, and still has you floating in it's memory. I enjoyed it much, glad you came to visit and posted it. |

You know - I should have replied to this when you first posted it. I can't help but think we have both seen more than our share of "hurricane wind" since that moment time stood still up on that deck. The last stanza you've written here is golden. No matter what - I'll lean into that wind - you do the same. I don't know that I've accomplished anything that I've set out to do yet, but I'll not lie down any time soon, believe that... Lovely poem, Gen. Mike - The spray is my favorite part! And landing on your butt makes for more laughter, so it's okay! LOL Sven - That *scene* is what we were hoping for - unfortunately, we couldn't GET to the bow! Argh! Janet Marie - You've been a dear friend to me...You always have such nice words for me...Thank you girl. Ruth - It's how I stay sane! I'd not be alive today, if it weren't for laughter... Danny - I am humbled by your comments sir...I owe you BIG. You have been there for me always. Suthern - Hi girl! I miss it when I don't post. Hope you're still keeping an eye on that Toe! LOL Aimster - Thanks girl! You're always there in some way, with nice words to offer. WhtDove - You have been so encouraging, and supportive - that's what I like about you! Thanks! Lost Dreamer - It was a bit scarey, but that's what made it so exciting! I darn near peed on myself with delight! ROFLMAO Fond memory indeed... Michael - Out of the whole trip, this is the one moment I hold so dear...probably because it was the one time we shared that innocent energy that felt so alive between us. It wasn't muttled with emotion, or doubt. We were alive that night - I believe that. Keep leaning in, and you'll make it - you're well on your way! Thank you. |

Rats! I finally found inspiration for another poem and here I sit at work. Too busy to complete a good thought but I'll try again later. Great poem... and thank you, Femme. P.S. Can someone tell me what "style" her poem is? I'm not really up on the poetry terminology but I like that style. a lot! =) "The storm rises up when the shadows descend every beat of my heart every day without end I will stand like a rock I will bend till I break till theres no more to give if thats what it takes I will risk everything I will fight I will bleed I will lay down my life if thats what you need every second I live thats the promise I make" I have no idea who wrote this... tell me if you know. =) |
