FAIRYTALE, part 1

The other side of sanity,
I stood before the throne.
Just looking upon Vanity,
Condemned to life - alone!

Lifeless eyes shaded to pale blue,
He bore a plastic crown.
A jester's joke rung ever true,
Demeanor of the clown!

The diadem, a silhouette
Of hope pointed on high.
By the addiction of roulette,
A Monarch can't deny.

He spins the wheel, the kingdom falls,
Now stood to disarray.
Nobody wins within the walls
Of self-righteous decay.

The past rules now, upon dark horse,
Poison scepter there claimed.
Unto the joust holding discourse,
Till honor is defamed.

By passion bled, by crumbled hope,
Nay, lightning's silver wing.
We count the dead but not the scope
Held to a fallen king.

By gauntlets shed, by swords laid bare
To battlefields of ghosts.
Stand we, tempted beyond all care
To share our maddened boasts!

The toast, herein, to anarchy,
For all cherished now dies.
Kingdom, therein, of Fallacy,
Love's fairytale, but lies.

Michael Anderson

For all behind was dark and drear,
And all before was night and fear.
How many hours of night or day
In those suspended pangs I lay,
I could not tell; I scarcely knew
If this were human breath I drew.

Lord Byron

This is very cool, my friend. I'm still quite stunned that you wrote this in minutes!  I look forward to seeing part 2.

Michael-

I agree with Elizabeth, not all fairytales end with "happily ever after". I truly enjoyed reading the darkness. Thank you, and now I'm going to check out part II. This was very good, my friend!

I too am over to check out part 2 after this, my friend!  Truly exellent work...I like the darkness woven into such fantasy.  Great work!

Elizabeth, Indeed, happy endings aren't always in the works, but this story is far from over...

Satiate, glad you enjoyed this part - I have decided to take your advice and run this into an Epic...  I hope I can hold the passion through out the entire piece.

Andrew, glad you caught it too.

devina, I will let each reader draw their own conclusion there...  you are very perceptive of my intentions though, dear.

nan, that's just because you know I live on the other side of sanity, huh?

Amy, glad you enjoyed the Dark tour...  there will be some light visible soon though, promise.

Alwye, dark woven reality creates a fantasy all her own me thinks.  Glad you enjoyed.

Thank you all for the kind replies.

Michael
