Author's Note: This is a poem of unrequited love that I wrote several years ago. Hope you like it! For Tonight For tonight, make believe that you love me; Oh, I know that it isn't true! But, the weight of the world is upon me, And I need you to help me pull through. Just give me your hand to hold onto, And let me gaze into your eyes. Then, tell me you'll love me, forever; And, tonight, I'll believe all these lies. The sky is o'ershadowed with darkness, And the bright moon is hidden from sight. But, I know I can make it 'til morning, If I think that you love me, tonight. -Troy J. Marge...thanks so much - glad you enjoyed it! Cerenity...thanks! I never did end up with the lady who is the subject of the poem. Had to settle for being good friends. But, you know what? It turned out to be one of the best friendships I have ever had! Hoot...glad you enjoyed it! Writing this poem helped me to ease the heartache a bit, and also helped me to realize that I couldn't change her - only myself. I appreciate all of your wonderful comments! For tonight, make believe that you love me; Oh, I know that it isn't true! But, the weight of the world is upon me, And I need you to help me pull through. --------- this is great...I reallty enjoyed its flow...it read smooth and even kinda like song lyrics...this isone you could just hear set to music. your emootions in it are sensitve and nicely expressed as well. take care, jm ...when you walked into the room, I saw their faces, you made it feel like time was standing still...and I felt fascination... then you turned and smiled in my direction... and my heart...gave me away. glass tiger |

Denise - I agree! Somebody once said that the best art comes from suffering. I don't think that it's necessarily that sorrow is more poetic than joy - the emotions are just often so much more intense... Janet Marie - your kind words are music to my ears, my talented friend! Michael - thanks! I think we have all "been there, done that" at one time or another. Hearts are funny things, and they don't always "connect" the way we'd like them to... Liz - (giving the full courtly bow) Thank you, M'Lady! Teresa - praise from Caesar! You have quite a gift yourself, Young Lady! Claire - well, we could certainly form a Mutual Admiration Society. I really enjoy reading your poetry! Thank you all for your kind words and your caring hearts. You guys are the best! Troy Beautiful, Thought-Provoking Poetry http://www.h-systems.net/p1.htm |

Boy oh boy! Looks like the way I've been trying to express myself for years! I loved it. One night of love is better than none at all, eh? Although I WOULD prefer an everlasting love to anything ***Sigh**** Maybe someday, right? hehehe. Great work...It was absolutely marvolous! "It was my love that did us both to death.
