(Free to good home...one muse, rarely used. Hey...I haven't a clue what he/she has been doing with me the past few days.)

Unobtainable Heart

Her words
     dance
off silvery tongue
and partner with your imagination
     luring you
into a seductive trance.

She captures you
in breathless heats
     of passion
fashioned into syllables and rhyme
      enflaming your desires
as she, the never ending temptress,
strews lines
you are unable to cross.

She consecrates
     life
with the dignity of words
that linger like
     the metallic scent of perfume
long after you’ve finished
reading.

The hopeless romantic,
she weaves gossamer threads
     of letters
into webs of poetry
entrapping you
in quick sliver moments
     that fleet
before your eyes
leaving you hypnotized
by the fluid rhythm
     of her work.

But on her greatest days,
she stands,
     bared,
before you
and offers up something
     she will never give.

There are only two ages of people...living and dead and you all look about the right age to me

As I do with every other poem of yours I have read....I love it. You display such a talent and knowledge of rhythmic words. Always such deep meaning and, simply put, awesome emotion. I'm so happy you share your talents with others!

Ruth,
Whatever your muse has been doing these past few days, she has been doing it well!   Yet another one that takes my breath away,
only to sweetly kiss it back into my very soul!

and I am all the better for it~

This muse, my friend, may lie dormant at times, but he/she dwells within your spirit, and drinks from the wellspring of your heart.

Hoot~
I like the fluttering muse that is
sipping from your inkwell.
Very nicely done, poetess.

"offers up something she will never give".

    If Rembrandt could write
       poetic words to see
        maybe his talent
    would come close to thee

    If our Hoot could paint
      her passion set free
    a masterpiece soon made
  from Rembrandt such jealousy

Need more be said?

your muse...tho rarely used, has lit quite a fire in you HOOT-girl..dont give it away to another...burn baby burn...
this is excellent, such sensual imagery.
very nice to see this side of your muse my dear
take care, jm

...when you walked into the room, I saw their faces,
you made it feel like time was standing still...and I felt fascination...
then you turned and smiled in my direction...
and my heart...gave me away.

I agree with all above ....
This is breathtaking, Ruth ...

(with hands folded across chest, shaking his head)

Ruth, Ruth, Ruth, (shaking head some more)
You tie that muse up and take full advantage of it for now hun...it's doing things for you that would make ol' Bukowski wanna put away that bottle of wine and throw out that manual punchboard and break down and buy himself a Gateway.  Keep up the fantastic work.

Ruth...so then you are only teasing us?
Really though I understand...it is easy to give your heart to all of us as a group but if any one individual requested a piece of your heart they would not be able to obtain it..right?  It is a good guess...right?  James

Oh James...I wish I could answer your question...perhaps the poem lays in the thought of the fear of giving my heart to another again. I don't know, maybe it isn't even really about me (although I think deep inside it is) I guess the last few lines say it all...Sometimes it's easier for one to bare their heart, than to give it away...but I'd certainly like to try again.

pmc..thank you

Chris, thanks for the kind words, nice to see you back around

Your poem makes my lip quiver. So many years ago I was there.  You speak reality, and sorrow, and my heart is drawn to you for it.
