That Way Madness Lies |

To drag up all those memories, And times of past remorse…. May help us while away the time, But bear a price, of course…. They tend to bring the teardrops- Again, to sear the eyes- And melancholy, morbid moods… Ah, that way madness lies. To dredge up all your past mistakes Those harbingers of doom…. Will cause the night to shroud the mind Drive sunlight from the room. And like poor Poe, in Morpheus’ grip… Did utter tortured cries… Your sanity will also slip- For that way madness lies. The past can never be undone… Words said, we can’t take back.. And skeletons of hopes and dreams Lie all along our track. Let past mistakes stay in the past- My counsel to the wise… Despair will overcome you fast- And that way madness lies. |

Such a powerful statement is made with this, often we do dwell on the "poor me" and only make things worse, and then there are others like me that pour the pain onto the paper and leave it there until I write again the feelings often have to come out sometime or they will eat you alive as well. You wrote this with an amazing talent...thank you for sharing it!! Hold me for yesterday Kiss me for tomorrow But love me for today. |

Outstanding writing, Gunny. You do not disappoint me. I enjoy reading your work. INclan p.s. Those who refuse to learn from history are condemned to repeat it. |

Excellent words to live by, 'slinger, and excellent writing. So easy to say and, oh, so hard to do. |

Very wise words...obviously it is hard to enjoy the new moments if our mind is stuck in the pain and sorrow of our past. I loved the thoughts in this poem. James |

Boy, if I had those words of wisdom a few months back, I would be a happier woman. This is a very articulate and wonderfully written poem. I loved it and read it about 6 times back to back, just to hear the flow and the truth it holds. Hope to see more like this VERY soon! |

We certainly can't change our past experiences - If we could just learn from them, though - Wouldn't that be a wonderful thing... Nicely done, GS.. |
