Kill a bug
Roll a ball
Wait for lovers
Who don't call.
Trap a mouse
Sink a putt
Tell the world
To kiss my butt
Watch tv
When I'm bored
Think of things
Left unexplored
Write some verse
Here and there
Read tags on
My underwear
Pick a stock
Lose some cash
Watch re-runs of
Cheers and Mash
Let my mind
Run away
Back to dreams of
Yesterday.
Feed the dog
Give a pat
Feed the goldfish
To my cat
Pass the mirror
Never look
Contemplate
The roads I took
Water flowers
Cut the grass
Wave to strangers
As they pass
Think of you
Here with me
Fly a kite
Climb a tree
Surf the net
Looking for
Who knows what
Lock the door
Boil an egg
Wash some socks
Kick a tin can
Throw some rocks
Cut my nails
With a knife
Here you have
My no-called life.

So that's where I've been going wrong...

"Read tags on
My underwear"

and here's me been trying to read the flipping man...that's it - I've been doing it ALL wrong, it's the underwear I should be focusing on

This is wonderful, but is this what each year gets one closer to, if so the next stops mine I'm off of this train to nowhere fast, back to my memories of fun...LOL
If I could write a poem this good I would fast forward myself to the palace of boredom.

Gosh thanks - I'd never thought of reading those tags, but it'll give me something to do tomorrow....if I have time after I feed my fish to the cat and watch the paint dry....
This is so great.....

poor and pitiful
Balladeer
sharing No Called Life
on here
but count your blessings
while you can
or you'll be into
quite a jam
for it could be
far worse you see...
I'll come
keep you company!

Cute poem, Balladeer...thanks for the smiles

Watch the phone
On the wall
Waiting for
Him to call
Wrote my name
On jockey tag
Just a silly
Lovers gag
Pretend I am
His fish of gold
Gave it to him
To have and hold
Watch the phone
On the wall
Waiting for
Him to call

This is funny!! Very clever, Balladeer! And your life isn't too dismal if you got to play some golf!

Ummm... maybe I missed something...

Wonderful poem, Michael. Didn't find it humorous... found it bitterly intriguing.. almost... hauntingly genuine...

Wonderfully expressed.

sometimes it does get monotonous...this thing we call life...but when we have our writing to free us and entertain us...it makes all the rest -- seem less.

very creative and well written Balladeer
as always...you make us think and smile.
take care, jm

she said I dont know if I've ever been good enough,
and I'm a little bit rusty, and I feel like my head is caving in.
...and I dont know if I've ever been really loved by a hand thats touched me...
and I feel like somethings gonna give...
and I'm a little bit angry.

I love it! Reading tags on underwear, feeding goldfish to the cat.  Humours Balladeer, at least I hope it was meant to be that way?

Such violence! *gasp* the very first line talks of killing bugs--I am just sitting here totally in shock--I never would've thought...

Deer, I love the simple honesty of this poem, and I know you don't do that thing to your goldfish...but life... can be this way and I found it poignant and sweet...and I just like you Mr. Bugman.
