A Beacon of Light |

The great wooden ship sailed quietly across a dark ocean. The bow cut through the water without the slightest sound. Its timbers swayed with the salty wind. All was silent. The crew lay amongst the barrels and boxes Dreaming of a land of beauty and fruitfulness All of them lay sleepily below the stars. All but one. A young boy slipped quietly across the crew towards the stern He leaned up against the magnificent rails and gazed up at the starry sky As he gazed across the black velvet sky, another thing caught his eye. A beacon of light His heart pounded like the beating drum As he gazed through the darkness, he saw more to that beacon A dark formation sat atop the water, like earth above the sea. A continent of dreams As he left the rails, he began to run As he ran, his spirits began to soar on a wind of fragrance The men and women woke up, seeing their dreams a reality Their journey at an end As the excitement began to die down, the boy looked over the rails again. As he stood there with a gleam on his face, he noticed something strange The beacon that had shown him the way was gone Gone into the night. After long and quiet nights of thinking This young boy began to realize the source of the light It was not a physical source, but a source of inner light. A beacon from his heart. When you are lost, and can’t find the way The beacon from your heart will show you the way. The beacon of light Sometimes the most important things can't be seen with the eyes, but are rather felt with the heart. *Cassie Roseen* |

Beautiful Cassers! I liked your form here, it kept me interested. Light and lovely, truly inspiring indeed. *Krista Knutson* As soon as man does not take his existence for granted, but beholds it as something unfathomably mysterious, thought begins. ~*Albert Schweitzer*~ |

DawnEclipse~ This is beautiful. I've often thought about being a beacon to others .. but never about being one to myself. Thank you for the inspiration. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Great poem Cassie! A real good job in the writing here and an excellent moral to it! Abrahm Simons "...Watching fate as it flows down the path we have chose" - Trent Reznor, "We're in this Together" |
