My Winter Rose The sun still shines, but not as when she’s near, The songbirds sing, but not as cheerfully, While in my eye an ever present tear, Reminds me that she’s ever kept from me. These arms that feel the emptiness of loss, Must ache until her warmth provides their rest. This soul must pine till love struck paths may cross, And once again her lips to mine are pressed. My love is like the sweetest winter rose, That blooms despite a freshly fallen snow. Her effervescent beauty glows and grows, And changes every heart she comes to know. Return my rose, my spirit to revive, For in your love alone am I alive. |

David2~ This is so filled with the image of the rose ... I could almost smell the lovely fragrance. Nice job ! Thank you for the bouquet. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

David, this is absolutely wonderful.. I thoroughly enjoy myself each and every time I open and read one of your works. If you haven't read much of Mike's work, you should venture into his posts. I think that you two might just get along well. Try this for starters. This is Mike's A Dozen Sonnets for a Rose. Mike is much too unpretentious to invite you over himself, so I'll do it for him... Erstwhile - Your work is absolutely great!! More please?? |

David...this was a beautiful poem--loved the rose image here...I, too, know the pain of separation and you expressed it very well. Great job! Elizabeth "He have his goodness now. God forbid I take it from him!" -The Crucible |
