Who is what he is,
Or what he seems to be?
I really should be someone,
Someone but not me.

To know a person completely,
Though rewarding is unknown.
People in this world of changing faces,
Like leaves by the wind are blown.

What is it that drives us,
To do things we shouldn't do?
To leave our lives and minds behind,
And awake to question..who?

Oh, to have the power,
To change our lives at will.
To rechart our lives, our destiny,
And climb a different hill.

That, of course, can never be,
We're stuck with who we are.
Our fondest dreams of change and hope,
Must be viewed from here afar.

To me, you will remain,
A love unknown, untried.
That's not the way I want it,
For what it's worth...I cried.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. I have wanted to respond so many times to things you all have written but did not feel I had the right until I had the courage to post my own.  Bet there are many "lurkers" who feel the same.

Cperazzi,
Welcome to the family.  But don't say that you are old ---

the heart has no age
it knows no boundaries
for only the human heart
knows immortality.

We are glad you are here!

and I am all the better for it~

Cperazzi,

this poem just about sums up the situation in my life. i like a girl, was trying to work up courage to tell her so until i heard that she is attached...

For what it's worth, I cried

this line sent shivers down my spine...haunting
