A Trip to the Airport

Black mountain sihouettes against the misty purple dawn
The hour of early warbling bird and waking dappled fawn
The only light's the thumbnail moon and little morning star
The big old silver bird of steel will carry him afar

High above the ribbon snakes and patchwork squares of ground
To a place he prays the answers to his fragile life are found
And he clings to all the splendor that he sees along the way
Then he grasps my hand in anguish just before the break of day

Down darkened highway rushing to the giant silver plane
The headlights shine on miles ahead that whisper soft his name
Pink streaks across the blueing sky the early sun has drawn
Black mountains turning grey against the brighteneing misty dawn

I have been unable to write much lately due to things going on at home and I want to apologize for not being able to read and respond to everyone's poetry. I am only concentating on the teen/mentor forum right now. I went along yesterday morning to take my husband to the airport and jotted this little poem in the car, really the only thing I've written lately. As an update, Tony is getting a third opinion at the Cedar Sinai Hospital in L.A.
Thanks for understanding
Liz

Liz: May he be given answers that will give y'all a long and happy future... so that your next trip to the airport is one of rejoicing. *S* Many prayers here... and hopes.

Such beautiful piece you have written Liz
It reminded me on the many many times I was flying across the ocean form Germany to Canada. It felt like I was back in a plane.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Tony
A big HUG of LUCK and HOPE for both of you.

The poem also brought a thought about John Denvers "I'm leaving on a jet plane".

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Keep writing and posting, Elizabeth. Your words have the power to touch the very core of the human spirit. If I could take this trial from you, Tony and the family, I would...you all will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Love ya

Very sweet words from all of you, my dear poet friends,
Denise, looks like you got your computer running, Boy, did that seem strange not seeing your responses to the poems.
