     The never ending song

Year on year leathers the hide,
Weathers the burning inside.
Dampens the ash, red to white,
Bringing dormant light, to night.

Dulls the senses of the ears,
Blinds the eyes with clouds of tears.
Fills the heart with waste and crud,
Thickens slow, the flow of blood.

And blocked within, floodgates shut.
Echoes songs old gorges cut.
Wears away the chain of mail,
Locks the knight inside a jail.

Makes the butterfly mutate,
Bright to grey and duller state.
Deprives the mind, calls the lean.
Sings the reapers song, of glean.

And here I am the edge of late,
Waiting out, a lovers fate.

Sy, if people could only attain a portion of your successes - they should feel self-accomplished... Your sentiments sing lound and clear here...Nice job..

Whoa, Seymour, is this what we have to look forward to?  Some heavy thoughts here, my friend, I think I'll go bury my head in the sand...

Beautiful words, as always, from the artist-poet. What fate awaits us all?
We have only to live well.

Well written as always.  A wee bit depressing for those of us on the down side of middle age... but well written, enjoyed.
