The Stars are Smiling The stars are smiling down at us As though a cherished friend In twinkling winks they wonder why We stand and gaze at them It does seem odd that little earth On darkened side still gleams With sparkling diamond midnight lights As stars look down and dream What fortunes could abound on earth That draw so many eyes To worship these electric beams As wonders of the skies And we on earth look to the heavens In wonderment and lust While stars with little twinkling eyes Are gazing back at us Elizabeth Santos |

Stars are a source of wonder and delight aren't they?..and you have captured that here for us. "Love is the only drug you can take that will convince you each time that you've never had it before." ~author unknown~ |

Liz, This is wonderful. I do enjoy star-gazing. Being a hunter...I always look for Orion. INclan |

Hi Liz, A wonderful sight the stars above and to think of them looking back in a dream state is so perfect. HUGS from, Cerenity |

A lover of the stars, they strike me as cold and hot at the same time, if that makes any sense! A lovely poem, Liz, and I can tell that you take the time to appreciate the world outside! Corinne |

A beautiful discription of the beauty of the nighttime heavens... Keep up the good work! "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

Thank you, dear star gazers, for your twinkling comments. Corinne's view of stars being hot and cold is very interesting, but that's food for another poem. Corinne, you can write that one. Thank you all Liz |

Wow! Beautiful work again, Elizabeth. And I would say more, but what can I say that hasn't already been said? Elizabeth "He have his goodness now. God forbid I take it from him!" -The Crucible |

Elizabeth~ Thank you for penning this beauty. You are 'twinkling' with delight. Of course you KNOW I'm addicted to the evening skies ... why, what else would Ms. Moon choose to wear in her hair but your twinkling stars ? You're a sweetheart. ~*Marge*~ |
