I know a guy named Balladeer, He read the paper every day. But what was strange and very queer, Was that the "Obits" what made his day? He'd write down the obituaries, Every day he did the same, Then take his phone directory, And then cross out the names. Then one early morning, while reading the "obits" He ran across his own name, causing him much fright, So he thought he'd better make some calls, To get this mis-print right. His boss was who he called first, To tell him it wasn't true, But he had already read the news, And had called the florist too! He got his boss on the phone, And his reply just left him numb. He said, "Just tell me something Balladeer; Which place you calling from?" |

ROFL... you may give Balladeer an occasional break... but you never cut him any slack! LOL. Great poem, sweets.... but his boss should KNOW 'Deer's destination! *G* |

Hey, Toe, it's about time, too! Balladeer has been mercilessly slaughtering you while you were away! Ok, well, maybe it was only teasing you mercilessly, but hey! I was rootin' for ya! Corinne |

Geesh - It's good to see you... Deer told us he saw your name in the obitoearies, but we didn't want to believe it... so we've kept a vigil... anxiously awaiting your retort... um... return..... |

Aw, JEEZ!!! It's back!!! This old dog Balladeer can feel that blood-sucking tick on his leg again....and he brought tick-ette with him! Great to see ya back, Toe. Excuse me while I go find a fire hydrant to celebrate on. Where you been ,boy? It's been real quiet around here. The only thing worse than having you around is.....not having you around!! |

being fairly new around here, I had a fascination to read work from the "infamous" TOE... your name preceeds you in this and another forum lol... it was well worth the wait ... this was creative and just plain funny... the respect filled rivalry between you and Balladeer is a treat to spectate. take care, jm Do you live by the book, do you play by the rules Do you care what is thought by others about you If this day is all that is promised to you Do you live for the present, the future the past... tracy chapman |

Nice comeback, Toe! Glad to see you're not just "taking it lying down," LOL! Although, I have to admit that I just had a hilarious mental picture. I'm extremely tired, and when I read all the posts about Toe and 'Deer, I started singing "Toe, a 'Deer, a female 'Deer..." Thanks for the laughs! Yo Toe: It's great to see your name back in the ranks. Keepem comin' buddy cause we need somebody to goad Sir Balladeer into writing those snappy comebacks. Who knows, someday you may win this war of words just by sure attrition. I'll catch cha on the flip side. Peace! |
