The stars.... so vivid The air.... So warm- reminiscent of summer.... The song... "Wheel in the sky keeps on turning"... My thoughts.... wander to adult things.... work, relationships, responsibilities..... Driving into the darkness.... alone with my thoughts.... Contemplating.... for endless miles... But for the distant song on the radio.... A child's voice breaks the silence.... "I love you, Momma".... This voice shatters my worries... bringing me back to reality... I smile, trying to hide the tears.... realizing I must portray a strongness... much easier to do, when I realize it is not soley for me. We continue on into the wonderous night air... Silent tears I cry now..... feeling selfish..... As I am chastising myself, for feeling lonely, or worried, or any of a number of things... realizing how truly blessed, and lucky I am.... The silence is broken once again..... "I love you, Momma." It is a statement. No response is requested. I quickly try to dry my eyes.... turning towards him, feebly attempting another smile... hoping he won't see the tears glistening around my eyes.... captured by the moonlight...... As I turn to him, I am greeted with a smile..... an innocent childlike smile.... and also by the motions.... His little fingers.... on his precious hand... Are formed into the universal sign language..... "I love you"..... I quickly turn my head, as the tears take their turns... down my cheek...... and I hurriedly try to brush them away.... as quickly as they fall.... acknowledging him with my hand.... on his boyish, unruly head..... Tousling his hair even more..... Hoping that all of his tomorrows will be as carefree as his today........ |

amazing.... My eyes are tearing as I write this. Honestly a true work of art. The relationship between a mother and child is like nothing else, and you portray that so well. Welcome to passions. Lucidity is the answer to all problems |

this is SO amazing...I have read it 3 times now and each time I read into it something I didnt see before... I love the reference to the old Journey song, but the images and the emotions this poem brought im my mind were heartfelt. you have quite a talent, VERY nice, take care, jm Do you live by the book, do you play by the rules Do you care what is thought by others about you If this day is all that is promised to you Do you live for the present, the future the past... tracy chapman |

Lucius Cade: Yes, children truly are so special, and there definately is a connection between mother- and especially son. I have been doubly blessed with 2 wonderful sons! One, who miraculously has survived, thanks to his guardian angels!... Thank you for sharing your emotions, instilled by my poem. ![]() Janet Marie: Thank you for taking the time to find different shells on the shorline of my poem. ![]() |
