Trusted Friends There is this wonderful couple, you never find them to far apart. Most of their lives have been spent just sitting around accomplishing nothing. They are known for their knowledge and wisdom and willingness to share it with everybody, so it comes as a great surprise that few people ever take the time to visit. One day someone happened to stop by that was in dire need of some help, and this is were she was told to go. Now Theo. and DI were delighted to share their most inner thoughts, for this is what made them happy and feel worth while. These three have become the best of friends, they spend hours together going back and forth in not so deep, to very weighty conversations. Theo. and DI never get tired of sharing their knowledge of the world with anyone and with open arms give all of them selves freely. Their friend has become much more secure in this world because she was strong enough to fight back and get that which she wanted so badly, and should have been thought to understand a long time ago. With the help of her very trusted friends, the life that was so hard to live in but also very embarrassing has became one of great joy and filled with wondrous new challenges. She is learning that there might very well be a place in this world for her after all, and she continues to grow every day. By, Cerenity Theo. is short for, Thesaurus and DI is short for Dictionary. The she in this story happens to be myself and until I came to passions I did not believe that anybody was interested in what I had to say or that what I wanted to tell the world was worth anything. What is really sad is that in this day and age there are millions of kids graduating from high school and not knowing how to read or write at all as with myself, if you know of someone with this problem please take the time to help, it could mean the difference between a very sad life or one of great joy. Cerenity~ What remarkable fortitude you display. I applaud your efforts and encourage you to rely on your friends if you need any assistance in your pursuit. Bless your heart for having the courage to open yourself up to a whole new world through self-education. You are to be admired ... and I do. Cerenity, Loved your poem!!! Thank you very much for having the courage to share this with us. That took a lot for you to do. Do not be discouraged, what you have to say is important and does matter to those who love you. Hope that you find what you are searching for. Friends are friend forever if the Lord's the Lord of them and a friend will not say never cause the welcome will not end. --Michael W. Smith |

Cerenity... If I only had the power - I'd formally request of Webster and Roget that they officially change the spelling of "serenity" to honor you... |

You have touched on a subject that I hold dear. We need to encourage everyone, not just kids, to learn to read..to learn to love to read and to never be embarrassed about asking for help. I have several of these trusted friends right next to me here. NO one should be without them. Poetry can be used to spark an interest in reading as poems are usually shorter than a story. Support your local library, RIF group or tutor someone...it's worth it ..and you'll feel good too... Thanks so much for bringing this subject to our attention with your wonderful poem. |

This is so lovely, poetry is so much better - in my opinion - when it actually has something to say and really means something, even if only to the author for it is bound to touch someone. Well done... Love, Peace and Sequins...MISS.QUEENY xxx |

Cerenity...you have touched my heart with this...both the poem and your footnote... both speak volumes about your kind heart. I understand what you are saying...about the encouragement found here in this special place and about the healing in growth I find in writing...to be the most honest I could ever be...the only time I am truly at peace and content is when Im sitting with my T&D and my journal writing...or when Im in here reading all of the poetry of this amazing group. I know several adults who couldnt read...it is so very sad... thank you for bringing attention to this...it is something we all take for granted...but think what we would miss out on if it was taken away. take care, jm Do you live by the book, do you play by the rules Do you care what is thought by others about you If this day is all that is promised to you Do you live for the present, the future the past... tracy chapman |
