Uncontained sadness has no place,
Freely roaming, overpowering grace.
Cracks are filled, disillusion there
Corners occupied with despair,
No room for me to run and hide
A raging journey destined to collide.

Feelings too strong for me to handle
I go to the window to light a candle.
A wick of hope and understanding
Dimmed in a haze that's so demanding.
A flickering flame weakened by tears
Fading in the darkness it tries to clear.

Unclaimed emotions are so appalling
I find myself always bawling.
Silent cries have turn to wails,
Reliving memories in full details.
Unable to keep the masquerade
The lightness about me has decayed.

Uncontained sadness, no destination
Free to roam, causing complications.
Swollen eyes and salt streaked cheeks
Frustration is at its highest peek.
A heart forgotten or made to wait,
If befriended by time will show its fate.

Circumstances created
A love belated.
Drowning in tears
For too many years.
Rejection denied
I still have my pride.

Shelley, this poem is really good.  The emotion jumps right out from the screen.
I like the lines:
    "unable to keep the masquerade
the lightness about me has decayed"

Pretty profound stuff you have written.
You don't post your poetry very often, but when you do, its excellent work.
I'll be looking for more soon.

I love that, I can relate. Great poem

Shelley~
Your emotions are well-defined.
Hope the 'candle flickers' with
a glowing light of awareness.

Shelley, I've always been amazed with the emotional depth of your writing. . . this is no exception. . .

I can feel the pain here. . .and I too, can relate. . . excellent work. . .

Thank you all for the encouraging compliments. I think you make it easy to express myself in here. Friends without faces but friends nonetheless.

I've always known I was emotional (too much sometimes) but profound, well-defined and with depth...that's encouraging!

Thank you again!!

Shelley,
Very emotional writing here.  It is always sad when love goes unreturned from the one we hold most dear.  I, too, relate to the pain and longing.  Great work!!!
