The Constitution We live by rules engraved in stone A constitution of our own With laws to guide the wayward mind And words enlightening the blind A script of wisdom, love and truth A preamble we learn in youth Each article is well defined And laced with phrases that are kind The laws to which our hearts adhere Are conscience’s most fragile ear And when the melody is heard The deed speaks louder than the word The heavy wave of oceans churned Is wisdom won in lessons learned And those who follow spirit's script Can man the helm of any ship The stone in which the law’s enscrolled Is just the essence of the soul And tablet etched within the mind To which the name of God is signed The Constitution’s from above The title of it's simply “LOVE” Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 03-25-2000).] |
