There are more reasons to fail than prevail, letting go, yielding to recklessness, it will wreck you, this hopelessness, that alluring foul addiction, this dour inner prediction. Pace and roam airless rooms called home, the mirror reflects milky eyes, into the face of suicide, are you to be a dupe in death, is this to be your chosen path? Then, at last, in the most mundane of tasks, in the face of a stranger perhaps, something inside finally snaps, some kind gesture, a knowing gaze, thoughts that occur do amaze. You don’t have to submit to it, there is serenity in winning, maybe a new beginning, it was always there before you, outside, the earth waits for you. Out there, it all surrounds, the beauty of peace astounds, nature in its revelry, evidence of the Deity. Love. © C.M. Bailey |

Beautifully written ... and such good advice I shudder to think of anyone in such a state as to be contemplating suicide Rex}<{{{{o> |

you capture the hopelessness well...words like milky give that fading away feel too..but then the change and the realization that life still has something to offer Great poem! "What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies." -Aristotle |

and the choice is indeed all ours...we can be miserable, or we can do something and be happy |

Thank you, Rex, yes, but it crosses all of minds at some point (or so I've been told), even if only for the briefest moment. Thank you, Tess and Meadowmuse, seems I just don't like bad endings, because it occurred to me that this poem could have ended either way. Marge and Parker, thank you. Trying to stretch a bit, anyway. and RAM, a special thank you. Hoot, thank you! Corinne |
