That is human which strives for lofty heights That is the day which descends into endless night Time heals not all of the wounds For all of the wounds come too soon We are of a body, whole and entire We are the dancing flames fueling the fire Beauty in nature will pass by unrecognized when viewed endlessly But how much do we mourn if beauty is removed eternally? What if the moon and the stars shine no more? What if the waves no longer break upon the shore? Great works, not destruction, ageless remain For all journeys through different paths, destination the same Perceptions vary, on polar points of view depend One’s enemy is yet another’s faithful friend Outward confidence belies inner hopeless desperation Change is the one constant in the life equation The smallest things can somehow shatter But a hundred years from now and they won’t matter The best of times offers a tantalizing, never-ending illusion Yet, like the worst of times, all suffer the same conclusion |
