Hats Off to My Wife Elisa. I Love Her. |

It’s true, without her, I'm half a person I would still be locked in a room enclosed In my sorrow and pain and regression Anything that is good in life opposed Did you know my love prays for me all day? Only angers when I could do better She picked me up from tee-shirt and jeans And brought me to corduroy and sweater She took me from the depths of hating God Who gave me a 'horrible existence' To thanking Him each and every day For her on-going faith and resistance She supplied me with the faith she upholds In the good in man, and God, and in me And I went from hating all of these things To a true man that God meant I should be But there were conflicts, of course, on the way To truly change one must learn to believe Everything I knew, I found to be wrong Sometimes I wanted to seek a reprieve Whimsy,my virtue as well as my vice To flit back and forth upon the gay wind My decisions impulsive, fool hearty Her reality I'd always depend Burdensome weight on her shoulders I’d heave She’d take it on her back and walk a mile While I'd sit back and comfortably sigh “I guess I should help out once in a while” I try to learn from misfortune's mistakes As she lays waiting for me in our bed I have grown from her spiritual beauty I vow, with my wife, good things lay ahead [This message has been edited by wayoutwalt (edited 03-21-2000).] |

This is an excellent tribute to your wife walt. Despite your plethora of wacky poetry, you have a definate skill in serious poetry. You never cease to amaze me |

Walt, this is truly amazing work!!! I second Rainbow Girl's wish... I hope you showed this to her! 'Tis the words women love! ~onevoice~ "And Something's odd-within- That person that I was- And this One-do not feel the same- Could it be Madness-this?" Emily Dickinson |
