Morbidity of Mindset |

Morbidity of mindset, and melancholy moods I find to be the bane of life, the wages it accrues. The saddest plight of all, I guess; from which delusions free us- Is, just as “Robbie” Burns once said, “To see as others see us”. To see the pride, the lust for fame; the heritage of woe- Which clings to all humanity, while dwelling here below. The selfishness, deceit of self… our steps to deification- Be it by the written word, or more often by oration. Yet one does say, “That isn’t me; my motive’s altruistic”- Well, if you’ve quite convinced yourself, you’ll never know you missed it One thing which we alike possess is our inherent bent- For our own exaltation… and, deem it time well spent. It’s why divorce is common place, instead of mates, we’ve lovers- I fear it’s always far too late, when one at last discovers… The fact that life’s behind us, and we are all alone- And all the goals we’ve set ourselves, have turned to air and flown. I have a proposition, for your consideration- Make cultivating others a full-time occupation. And then you shall discover, if others you can please… There’ll be no difficulty, in putting self at ease. Visit My Home Page http://www.geocities.com/montcogunslinger/HomePage.html |

Cultivating others will help us to put our own desires in their proper place. I can't think of a better way to lead a full and happy life! Well stated, Gunslinger! Denise |

This doesn't sound like cowboy writin'....unless it's Will Rogers. I can't agree with the end result because I've always been under the opinion that you can't put others at ease unless you already are but then, that's what makes horse races. The writing is excellent. |

Hmmn, well pleasing others can make us feel at ease. But we can't please everyone all the time. I agree with Balladeer to a point on this...kind of like you find it hard to love another if you can't love yourself. Kind of the same thing with pleasing others. Though it does give us a damn good feeling! Excellent writting indeed! |

Love the rhythm here...it sounds wonderful read aloud, as does all your work. My own thoughts (and humble interpretation) lean toward focusing less on our own somewhat selfish "wants" and more on how we might improve our relationships with those around us, especially our loved ones. Enjoyed this very much, Gunslinger. ~ Claire |

I have to admit I have driven some away...because I was selfish and only considering my needs..hopefully I will do better in the future. James |

Wise words indeed Gunslinger. People are too busy chasing the American Dream...whatever that is, fortune, fame, things. Along the way, they miss the best treasure of all, each other. |
