THE BOX

Tightly sealed, cleverly wafted,
Sinister - So aptly crated
If but by dream or stolen prayer.
Accursed box, Beautiful bearer!
If but a tear upon the eye
Of Mankind, the first ever cried.
For fire harnessed, the destiny
Now paid of all by foul decree!

Appeal, allure, Grace confesses
A God-like trace in the tresses
Of hair, silk spun, of soft white skin.
Temptation's lips in shine of sin
That awes the essence of the soul,
That suffers man loss of control...
As she opens her box, there frees
Calamity and winged disease.

Flying forth all havoc wreaking,
Pleasure lost on eyes yet seeking
Passion's promise, drawn through pain,
Eternity given disdain!
The fire without, burning within,
Insatiability from sin!
By need never to be fulfilled,
Come the curse accepted, full willed.

A glimpse of hope so bleakly shone
Forever, faced no more alone.
Enough to whet the lips of dream
In forfeit of all self-esteem.
Enough to dissuade history
In chase of charm and mystery.
All death unfurled by aurora,
Let the world embrace Pandora!

YOU GO, MICHAEL!

Perfect words and perfect pace. There are so many Pandoras and they have so many boxes! What's a guy to do?

That hope can be hard to find in the midst of such chaos, but it is there. Great poem Michael.

Wonderful piece. Sy

Oh I liked this...Life is like opening a Pandoras box...I checked out your home page and signed the guest book....I hope it left my remarks!

Michael~
This is as perfect as I've seen from you.
Much freeing of feelings.
You have embraced Pandora.

If Pandora could bring these feelings to light ...
may she continue in her flight.

I cannot select a single line, even a stanza, as my favorite in this striking piece of poetry, Michael, and I know it's not just my fever keeping me from it...this is beautiful through and through.

Balladeer, gotta love those boxes though, they all carry that little glimpse of hope ya know?

Mistikman, Indeed... and it's amazing how much havoc a man will willingly endure to catch that glimpse of hope at the bottom of the box, too.

Janet, I'm just plain exhausted truth be told... But never get tired of writing though.

suthern, love the little internal rhyme there!  Thank you much.

A Romantic Heart, *sigh* the guestbook didn't take the signing for some reason.  I would be more than honored if you would care to try once more.

Nan, Yep - Pandora's free so I best be hinding...LOL  Wonder if I can fit in that box she dropped?

devina, Much pondering going on here of late, me thinks.

Claire, words like that from you mean so much to me.  I'm sorry to hear you're running a fever.  I hope all gets better soon.  You know it's Pandora's fault though, right?

Butterflies_dont_cry, I am glad my poetry moves you in this way.

Thank you all for the kind replies.

Michael
