Death of the Traveler Part 16

Ah, ‘tis a gloomy day, milad-
On lonely Scottish shores….
The village lassies ‘ang their ‘eads
An’ weep for Traveler. sore.
‘e’d promised e’d be comin’
Along Killabragh road-
‘is ‘orse showed up wi’ out ‘im-
We thot that e’d been throwed.
We searched for miles to find ‘im
An’ lastly we espied-
‘is broken blade beside the road…
An’ found where Traveler died.
A pool o’ blood upon the sward…
An’ signs where they ‘ad fought…
‘e slew an honor guard to ‘ell-
‘is death was dearly bought.
The story then unraveled….
O’ bandits on the moor-
An’ wi’ a craven ambush-
They wounded Traveler, sore-
‘e drew ‘is blade, an’ fought them
Their number bein’ five…
An’ ere the Traveler breathed ‘is last,
But two were left alive.
An’ they were badly wounded-
In fear an’ pain they fled…
A jackal pack brought down a wolf..
Aye, slew the Traveler dead.
Yet of a snowy winter’s eve-
We’ll fill our cups wi’ ale…
An’ sittin’ there wi’ tear stained cheeks-
We’ll tell a Traveler’s Tale.
The End.

What a story-teller you are!  I am feeling lucky to be Irish today!  A true traditionalist in style, I shall be checking out your work more often--it is I who has been short-changed by my lack of reading!

If this is the end of the Traveler, I guess you'll have to give us reruns then!!
Wonderful writing! I always enjoy your poems!

Excellent, gs. But I notice there wasn't a body found...could it be the Traveler may ride again?
