First of all, I wanted to thank you all for the responses to my first poem in this forum. It felt really great to have someone other than my family read one of my poems. Thanks. Here is one that I wrote several years ago. My Brother My brother told me he loved me today. It took me by surprise. My brother told me he loved me today, And tears fell from my eyes. Growing up, we were years apart, Did he know that I exist. Being one of a large family, It was easy to be missed. When he was going off to college, I was only turning ten. As he pursued his lifelong dream, I was playing kick-the-can. But whenever I have problems, Sound advice he has for me. The things that I might overlook, Are the things that he can see. As adults we have had our differences But they always get swept aside. He is blood of my blood, we are one in the same And we have our family pride. As time goes past, the years go by, We all go our separate way. Sometimes, people, when looking back, Regret things they did not say. But my brother told me he loved me today, I did not know what to do. My brother told me he loved me today, I love my brother, too. |
