The Awakening

As I awoke from silent sleep
One moonless night in shadows deep
A dream was dancing in my head
And spreading warmth across my bed

I saw the fantasy so clear
Of love alive, but never near
And on that night of waking bliss
I thought I felt his tender kiss

From sweet imagination's feel
Somehow the dream turned into real
His love so distant in the past
Was here to comfort me at last

And now I ask how can this be
This miracle that's come to me
Do I deserve so great a gift
That's come my spirit to uplift

Where once I lay alone in sleep
And dreams were all I had to keep
Now fantasy is just a word
Of dreams and songs I'd always heard

I feel him lying next to me
The man who was my fantasy
In dark of night in shadows deep
As I awake from silent sleep

Breathtaking...I too, have laid down the chase of fantasy and fairy-tale, and am on that same mission to find someone who is REALLY there...someone I can see and touch, not just this keyboard.  You are one lucky girl if you truly have your fantasy laying beside you at night.  One day, that will be me too!  (Not laying next to you, er...you know what I mean!)  LOL  That came out wrong I think!  hehehe  I can always relate to your words...Thanks for everything Liz, you have been the one poet in here, that I truly respect, and find comfort in your poetry.  I know that I can always count on your works when I need a little bit of comfort or understanding.  You have no idea how much you've helped me, just your presence here alone.  I haven't always replied to your work, but I have always read through tears.  Thank you.  pFF

Liz...may I be the first to say this is absolutely perfect!! Perfect in its rhyme, its rhythm and its content!! You have surpassed yourself with this as it is perhaps one of the best pieces I've seen from you and mind you I've seen hundreds of impressive works from you. One final word to add here

Very smoothe and delicate.  A fantasy dream dancing in the night.....becoming real.
Enjoy your work.

Elizabeth, my friend~
The meter lovely,
the rhyme sublime.
It's destined to become
a favorite of mine.

Beautiful.
Florida weather agrees with you !

To be aware, in the night, of the presence of one so longed for...what bliss and serenity, Liz. You've given this reader such an enchanting sensation with the reading of this lovely poem. Thank you!

Elizabeth,
God you can write, This is exquisite.

Into the world of non exist,
To fly the air of dreams persist.
It's here my essence you did find
And took away the sense of blind.
