Immortality I pass two milestones every single year of the beginnging and end of my visit here Though the latter is a time still waiting so undefined as of yet,so uncertain; I still know I'll be smothered someday, behind the precarious curtain But I do often wonder Is this life but a phase of immortality just a stepping stone to a better becoming Once beyond mortal mesh what secret senses might be foreign from this flesh and what cycle of seasons will be bestowed on them in an afterlife? For surely there must be senses and seasons beyond And where will my soul be lodge anew Are we all just specks-- little falling stars that fall forever and ever through eternity changing and changing forever being and forever to become these thoughts together make my mind numb Is this a dream I'll be pinched someday I'll perhaps scream and then startled I'll awake to some hideous face "...no single sound too rude Upon thy slumber shall intrude, Our thoughts, our souls- O God above! In every deed shall mingle, love." --Edgar Allan Poe (from Serenade) |

A good poem with some interesting thoughts. Keep up the good work! "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

"Once beyond mortal mesh what secret senses might be foreign from this flesh" A wonderful line, Poeminister, and overall an interesting piece. I like these "questioning" works. ~ Claire |
