Jing-jing! Brrrinnng! The shiny bell on his handle bars Warned everyone to move away. Look out world, I am coming. That is what he seemed to say. Sweatshirt zipped up to his neck. Pedals churning, little shoes Puffy cheeks and bright-eyed grin That's the way I remember him. Then we both moved away And yesterday I saw his face. Now grown up he graced the front page of the local edition evening news. Boy 19 Involved in Hit and Run. Ryan Palmer fled the scene He wrapped his car around a tree His passenger died instantly Seventeen empty beer bottles found in the back seat. Jing-jing-brrrrinnng! |

To Jim, Martee & Mete Out: thank you for reading and commenting. I wrote this piece to indicate that driving while intoxicated is a selfish thing. It can hurt wives, children, family and friends of other people. I posted it in an open forum hoping that more people might benefit from reading the message. (You hurt others by drinking and driving- not only yourself- so don't be selfish and think only of yourself.) I guess I'll jump off my soapbox now. bboog |

A sad reality... strong piece...don't you just want to cry it to the world and change it? 'Writing sharpens life; life enriches writing' Sylvia Plath |

BB~ If you drink don't drive. If you drive don't drink. Just about covers it, don't you think? Poignant piece. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

To Marge & Severn: thank you for reading it! and as Marge writes: (sound of cutting and pasting) If you drink don't drive. If you drive don't drink. Just about covers it, don't you think? best regards, bboog |
