Soft hush of evening deepens into night,
...cool breeze from forth the east,
Mother earth holds unto her bosom tight,
...her children; man and beast,
As quiets bustle of the day now done,
...from afar a nightingale,
Crystal notes; vespers for a setting sun,
...song unto the gods regale,
Nature calls unto her creatures wild,
...rest my children, heed my call,
For in the calm of night, none be reviled,
...as peace on land doth fall.

Hush my children, your heads on pillow lay,
...hush my children, day is done,
In the silence of the night, await tomorrow's day,
...hush my children, day is done.

Mike~

'Mother earth holds unto her bosom tight,
...her children; man and beast'

What soothing, peaceful thoughts are these.
Beautifully said.

Thank you all so kindly...
you are very gracious in your comments.
Actually, I wrote this as I lay in bed, listening to the sounds of the night.  As I have said previously, I do enjoy the quiet of the night.

Your talent leaves me breathless.  I tried to find the one line that made this come alive for me, and I couldn't settle on one...every line had magic in it. You have such a way with words...I'm in awe.  pFF

Definately keeping this one in my folder of favorites...along with some others of yours. Bravo!

Mike!  How beautiful!  You have a wonderful ability to take your reader out of their surroundings and float them away into the land that you create for them.   Lovely.
sincerely,
